UK insurer, Aviva (formerly Norwich Union), have announced that they will be offering free life insurance for new parents. They will provide £10,000 cover for each parent until the new baby’s 1st birthday.
It comes as an incentive to try and increase the awareness of this sort of protection. Amazingly, less than half of new parents don’t take out this cover for one reason or another. If the unfortunate event of a parent dying happens then it could be financially difficult for the family that has been left behind making this cover very important.
Aviva have announced that they will not collect any bank details from new customers for this free insurance policy which stops the idea of them automatically renewing the policy next year. They will obviously hope that the policy is renewed at the end of the first year but I think this is a great way to spread the word about an insurance policy that is easily forgotten about in the excitement of a new child’s birth.
