Woodland insurance is a type of land insurance that you can get to prevent you from suffering any loss arising from a third party injuring themselves on the land and then holding you responsible for their injuries.
Woodland insurance is something that you can get if on the land that you own most of it is taken by trees, shrubs and bushes of which the best example would be if you had a forest that the public where able to get to and walk through then you may want to protect yourself just in case anyone does injure themselves and holding you liable as the land owner.
As with most types of liability insurance there are three main levels of cover that you can get which start at the minimum which is one million pounds worth of cover. The other levels of cover which you can get a quotation for is two million and five million pounds which means that would be the maximum that the insurers would pay out in the case of a claim hence why most people tend to go for the minimum cover, although other things such as the acreage of the land make a difference as well.
There are various extras that you can get and this is the case with if you wish to get woodland insurance, especially if the public has rights of access as you may then employ a general caretaker or tree surgeon to look after the trees and make sure the paths were kept clear to minimise the risk of third party injury. If this is the case then you could look at adding Employers Liability Insurance on to the Land Insurance Policy.
The price for a years worth of cover for this type of land starts at around £105 and this covers up to 100 acres of land although anything over that will be more, there are also various other things that can affect the price such as whether or not there are automatic gates or barriers on the land or any non residential buildings.
