Another flurry of attention seeking scientists declared that it would be the end of the world when CERN (the European Organization for Nuclear Research) launched their latest, and possibly world’s biggest, scientific experiment last week. Once again all these drastic claims turned out to be complete rubbish.

The experiment involves the worlds largest most powerful particle accelerator which fires beams of protons around the LHC (Large Hadron Collider), which is a staggering 27km in circumference, in an attempt to solve some of the world’s scientific mysteries such as the big bang theory.

The first beam was fired on the 10th September but it will be about a month before the main results start coming in. This is when the different beams begin to collide with each other and produce…….. STOP! I have no idea what I’m talking about or what they are talking about. I don’t really have a clue what is going on either. The main thing is we are all still alive and some scientific guys in Geneva are having fun. Good for them!
